When writing a resume, we often shrug the skills section off while emphasizing various other elements of resume writing. We also find it difficult to decipher what a soft, functional, and technical skill is. Understanding the differences between soft, functional, and technical skills is important as it is crucial for personal and professional development.

To excel in a particular job or domain one individual must develop and hone functional skills as it is vital.

Whereas, Technical skills are precise abilities and knowledge to carry out a selective task or operate a tool or technology that can be educable and also quantifiable. Technical skills comprise coding, graphic designing, data analysis or any software programming. Technical skills are essential in various professions, mostly in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics realms. Consistently acquiring and staying abreast of technical skills are important to remain competitive in today’s job market.
